Dimebag’s Musical Career
The first band that Dimebag and Vinnie formed together was one of the best heavy metal bands in the world, Pantera. When Pantera first came on the scene they were described as a glam and hair metal, because the members had long hair. But over time, Pantera came to be one of the most popular metal bands of all time. The 90’s were very good to the band, they continued to ride high and put out albums and tour with the best of the best and not to mention they had hundreds of thousands of fans.
In 2003, the band decided to go their separate ways. Mainly due to inner circle problems, the band itself was still high in the popularity polls. One of their band members, Phil Anselmo was so deep into a drug addiction that he often attacked other members of the band. Darrell and Vinnie broke up the band they started in the 80’s and formed a new band Damageplan.
They started Damageplan with a new lead vocalist, Patrick Lachman and a new bass guitarist, Bob Zilla. They released a new CD in 2004, titled New Found Power, and the new CD reached number 37 on the billboard charts. The band continued to play until the death of Dimebag in late 2004. Their manager had said that the band was working on second album when Dimebag died but at that point in time it was not clear if the material would ever reach the public.
Vinnie Abbott, went onto form his own record label called Big Vin, he has said that he has unreleased music of his brother and that in time; he may compile them into a CD and release them to the public.
